22 Drownings Recorded in first 8 days of 2012.

These drownings are still continuing with another drowning that occured this weekend on one of our beaches.

What can we do to prevent this?

How do we resolve this problem? I think that one must look at the individuals including myself that are swimming at our beaches, even though there are life guards on duty is the persons swimming in the demarcated areas and in many of the drowning has alcohol been the cause of these drowning these are questions we should ask. Even though there are life guards of which I was one back in the day, are they a wear what’s going on around them on the beaches. There has been many a times when I was at the beach and the life guards where more aware of their friends sitting and chatting to them than actually keep their eyes on the sea at all times. As an ex-life guard this was not aloud and are they correctly train, these are more questions we should be asking ourselves.

I think the best thing to do is to try and support our kids in order to join the local sports clubs or to be active at school.
I can understand those school still without the swimming school but certain local school the facilities are there but our children they dont participate at all.
